There is nothing like leaving New England for a week in March to head down to sunny Florida and watch some baseball. My father and I have headed down to Fort Myers for many years now and it just never gets old. This year we met some great players, scored some awesome autographs, and even added a few game used items from a couple players. Since we always head to the minor league fields, we don’t catch too many major leaguers, but we did see Jason Varitek and Tim Wakefield walking around the fields and coaching the minor leaguers. We also got to catch a quick extra bullpen session by Koji and Tazawa, and they both pitched to some minor leaguers and AJ Pierzynski. Koji was the only one who stopped to sign a few, and I got him on a home jersey that came out great! One of the other coaches roaming around was future HOFer Pedro Martinez, and he signed a few times for fans. On one of the last days, Drake Britton and Brandon Workman came out to watch a few old friends, and they were sporting the amazing American flag trunks that Jonny Gomes bought for the team last season, so I had to snap a pic of that fashion statement. We also had the private autograph signing with Brian Johnson, but all the info from that will be in a separate post. All in all, we came home with a ton of autographs (278 total autographs between cards, 8×10’s, baseballs, and game used items including the signing with Brian Johnson).
