Sox Signatures hit the road to visit some family and catch the Sox in Pittsburgh, PA. First stop was a short overnight in New York City to break up the trip and visit my sister-in-law. The next day it was on to Dubois, PA to visit the in-laws and spend a few days with them. We visited the BWP Bat factory in nearby Brookville, PA and I ordered a special bat with the Sox Signatures logo to pickup at the end of the week. Then it was on to Pittsburgh and PNC park. After tweeting a message/photo to Gary Striewski about a special sign we made, I was told we might be shown during that night’s NESN broadcast. Sure enough during the middle of the game we started getting texts and phone calls from people that saw us, and Gary even wanted to meet us after the game. So we got a great photo-op with Gary, and we traded the poster for a signed ball (apparently he’s going to hang the poster on his wall because his mother and sister think it’s hilarious!). The second game we went to, Joe Kelly signed some autographed before the game s owe got him on a ball and a card, but no other players signed. That night also happened to be the big league debut of Rusney Castillo, plus it was also the MLB debut for Bryce Brentz as well! After a whirlwind 3 days in Pittsburgh, it was back to DuBois again to visit one more time and pick up the custom made BWP bat, and finally a long drive back to MA with a one night stop over in CT to break up the travel time. It was a pretty hectic week and I put a lot of miles on the family car, but overall everyone had a great time and we walked away with some great stories to tell.
